Saint Bernadette Soubirous Nun Relic From Her CommunionIn this auction, we are offering, possibly one of the most scarce & one of a kind authentic saint bernadette relics to ever be offered here on ebay. This is a 2nd class vestiment relic taken frmo sister marie-bernard. Aka saint bernadette soubirous. 1844 ~ 1879. This original & authentic relic was purchsed from another bernadette collector who lives over in europe & just finished celebrating her 85th birthday! Very sweet lady! Who is 40 going on 41, so to speak 0 hehe.
She just recently decided to sell off most of her life itme collection of saint bernadette items. The relic we are offering here, is only one of the many amazing pieces we purchased from her private collection. However. What i find to be very intersting, is the fact that this relic seems to have been taken from the clothing she actually wore during her first holy communion ceremony which took place on june 3, 1858. The lady who sold us this piece informed us that this pieec was given to her by a priest she was very close with many years ago. oNt only that, but, this piece was also originally hand made by a french nun. The parcel being offered in this auction measures just alittle over 2 inches long x by nearly 1-1/2inches thick. It also has a nice warm sepia tone to it as well. The actual relic (piece of garmet) is sewn shut in the beautiful hand made oval pouch you see with the unique image of our lady & her immaculate heart. Now, the back of this piece has a string that is sewn from one end to the other, it kinda reminds me of the relics stamped with red wax, they have strings going through the wax as well. There is also a thin tiny strip of material that is just a piece of the full label that once was mounted to the back of the pouhc by the string.
Unfortunately, the only part that remains is the name bernadette the majority of this tiny thin relic label has torn/ripped off over the years & is missing. We were told by the lady we obtained this item from, that the actual tiny thin paper relic label was once intact & stated that the relic was from a piece fo cloth from bernadette's clothing worn at her first holy communion, as the front indicates. The sister who originally made this little relic parcel, did a beautiful job!
hTis is a very special relic piece that we may never see again! This is certainly not something that pops pu from time to time.
